SOUNDS LIKE: Got a gun, screwdriver, knife and shank – plus I break face bones with my platinum rings.
Such is SAMIYAM‘s bio on his social media sites; this soulful joker of the Brainfeeder clan has garnered an international following for his shifty, slouchy, street-infused beats. Funky and disjointed, SAMIYAM’s music thumps with a hip hop backbone and swaggers into the future through a smoky cloud of jazz influences and a twisted sensibility.
With a wide sweep of inspiration from video games to Italian horror movies to Michael Jackson, SAMIYAM unravels sounds then shoves them back together in clever new ways. His music mutates and then takes shape into a hard and sloppy sonic experience, textured by wet beats that drip with soul. Like concrete smashing through a dirty window, the sound of SAMIYAM shatters expectations, and if you listen closely to the fragmented shards of bouncing street bass- you can hear his swag.

PURE FILTH kicks off it’s new Friday night weekly event SCREWFACE at Club Gabah on Friday, January 28 with the massive sound that you have come to know and love from Pure Filth along with a fat roster of talented artists:
THE PROFESSIONALS (Bassface)
+ OICHO on live video mapping
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
LORN: Unafraid and unhinged, Lorn’s music is exquisitely dark and ominous, simmering with anger, brooding intensity and emotional fearlessness. Plunging headfirst into the absurd, Lorn draws not only a portrait of shadowy struggle but also arouses a dynamic universe of sentiments using deconstructed sounds and skills built from the ground up. His debut album “Nothing Else” is out on Brainfeeder now.
THE PROFESSIONALS: Sam XL and Pablo Hassan have been covering Los Angeles’ crowds in Pure Filth for years now and showing no signs of stopping. At the forefront of the city’s dubstep scene since day one, The Professionals return for SCREWFACE to deliver the bass that your brain and body requires.
SAMIYAM: is the Brainfeeder resident bleepy beat-smith, supposedly from Michigan but most likely from Mars. It’s alway’s a pleasure to catch his sets as he continues to push the envelope with his deep 808’s and mesmerizing off-key riddim’s. A true originator who is going on to Big things…DO NOT MISS THIS SET!
DRONE is a member of LA’s Junglist Platoon that has been dropping firebombs made of dnb on the city for over fifteen years. Awaken to hard-hitting sounds delivered with soul and listen as Drone shootsfire out of his fingers.
KEMST is your host and MC whose infectious energy keeps the party rolling and the crowd screaming for more. Listen to his words and let his rhythms set you free.
OICHO brings the latest in visual pleasures to Screwface with live video mapping; this multimedia artist will pop your top off with his innovative designs.
